This past Friday night IN THIS WEEK MAGAZINE hosted its 3rd annual “Fashion Night Out”. Inspired by Vogues “Fashion Night Out” in New York, IN THIS WEEK prepared a night full of fashion, with a full runway line up. The show featured Porsche Design, O.C Tanner, Mary Jane’s, Tempest Couture, FICE Gallery, Ypsilon, Beckett & Robb and Nappi Clothing.
We did four pieces total for the show in two different locations. Our first performance was in the VIP area, upstairs in the reception area of the Gallivan Center. This would be the perfect space for a battle… if we could afford it. The first piece was to Moves Like Jagger BY Maroon 5, danced by Josie, Karen, Kaleena, Keiko, Munk and Gage. We even had a little cypher at the end, shout out to DJ Brisk 1 for holding down the music .
The last three pieces were done on the main stage before the runway show started. First was the girls performing to “All Nite” by Janet Jackson, second was a bboy piece to “On and On” by The Incredible Funk League, last we all did a house piece to “Got A Hold On Me (Kenny Dope Mix)” by the Muthafunkaz. Sorry no footage of these yet so you’ll just have to take my word for it that it was dope. Even though the stage was smaller than we expected everyone was on point, even yin yang.
The Bboy Federation did this show in a effort to get more gigs. IN This Week provided us with some advertising specifically designed to get people to hire us. I think that we have some of the most talented dancers in the state within our scene and I’d like for them to have the opportunity to make a few bucks every now and then. Fingers crossed, lets hope it works.
Thanks to the dancers; Josie, Karen, Kaleena, Keiko, Munk, Yin Yang and Gage for suffering through the rehearsals. Also thanks to IN for giving us the opportunity.
